Well, looks like we are not going to travel to Kazakhstan until spring-summer 2009. Anjali has been working really hard on trying to get a meeting with the Consulat however there has been some unforseen circomstances that have delayed this and now Anjali is going to Nepal on behalf of the Children's Bridge from Oct 29 to Nov 10 so nothing will happen before she returns.
If the meeting takes place, there is nothing to prove that it will turn out to be favourable. If it is, our files could be forwarded to kaz before Jan 2009, if not, then it will be Jan 2009. In any case, if is just a few months away so we can wait. My concerns is as I mentionned it before, that our file will remain here as it will need to be updated starting December & we will one again fall behind others.
I was assured by Nana that this would not occur. We will see. Don't get me wrong, I really like Nana & Anjali however they can't promess things that are out of their hands. If the decision of the Consulat is not favourable, I asked Nana & Anjali to pull our dossier out & to put all our new information on it & to have it to be the fist dossier to go to the Consulat once he accepts new dossiers. We will see how everything will play, I have confidence in them.
On a happy note, that way we will get to go in the spring. I am assuming May-July 2009 could be later. I am not holding my breath for before that. That's for sure. That way, no winter gears to carry with us, so a much lighter load if you see what I mean. Capris & shorts, sandals, tank tops & t-shirts instead of snow suit, toques, mitts, boots, pants,sweather......On the other hand, Josh will be missing the end of the school year. I already spoke with his teacher & we will see if he can do his homework on line or via email. I told him in the meantime to work really hard at getting ahead so he wont fall too far behind.
We are getting ready for Halloween. Josh & I are going to decorate the front yard today today. Can't wait.
Happy Halloween!
Talk to you after Anjali meets with the Consulat.

Disapointing news with a silver lining....
Hello everyone!
I got some rather disapointing news which started with a conversation with my mother. She said that she saw on the News on TV in Quebec that Kazakhstan will put adoptions on hold as there is some
" issues" with another Country but she could not remember the other Country's name. I asked her if she was certain it was Kazakhstan as it could have been Kurkistan. She said she was sure.
I then contacted our adoption agency & spoke with Nana, one of our co-ordinator & she did not hear anything like this but did say that neither her or Anjali were able to get a hold of anyone at the Embassy for over 1 week. she said she will be looking into it.
We received an email last night from Nana saying she wanted us to know right away before anyone else as we deserve this much & the others will know next week in their biwkly update. She said that she went to the Embassy yesterday as she had some other things to do there & took this opportunity to ask & she was told that for a reason they will not discuss, they are putting ALL ADOPTIONS FROM ALL AGENCIES on hold until the new year. They will not send anything they already have (3 dossiers: 2 for the City of Almaty and 1 for the City of Karaganda: ours). They told her once they know more in January, they will either proceed with the adoptions or advise of further delayes.
This was the very disapointing news.
Now, the silver lining:
We were told in July that we would be expected to travel to Kaz after the new year and by that date, our dossier would be stale dated so to not take any chances, we should redo our medical, Interpol, Police records check, employer and financial letters and an update to our home study ASAP. We , rather I did take her advise to heart and started to update all this against Sean's advise " why are we doing this now... you don't know, we can be going in December & no need to do all this & spend more money & bla bla bla." I told him to be quiet as I am the one who will be doing all the leg work, all he has to do is show up. We finally got to see our I.P. (the one who does the home study). I mentionned to her & to our agent at Social Services that Sean & I are very frustrated because when we did our initial home study we were asked to provide dates we would prefer our child to be born in rather than an acutal age. So as we were told there is no girls under the age of 2 we thought we would pick January 2008 to July 2005 (1-3.5 yrs old) but as the delayes are increasing, so will be the age of the child.
Our I.P and Social Services said they will change the letter for the home study & the provincial letter to read the same dates but specified that we prefer the younger portion of the age range and would be more than willing to consider an even younger child. So according to our adoption agency this will acutally help us get a youger child as they take the Provincial letter very seriously & go by it no matter what the dossier says & they tend to give the youngest child possible.
So, there is hope for us yet to get a baby or a very young toddler. On the plus side as well is no winter travel means no winter gears to bring & no heavy clothes to bring & we will not be stuck indoors.
So I chose to think positive and see the silver lining
I will let you know once we have an update after the new year.
