Hi Everyone!
We finally got our doctor to sign the medical forms & all we needed was the Interpol. I left yet another message for them to call me back & they never did. Then on the same day that we got the medical report, we went to the post office & there it was.
I went back to the car & opened the envelop, so excited, & then to Sean's surprise a bunch of curse words came out of my mouth. (Josh was not in the car). It turn out that both of us, not just Sean or I but both forgot to indicate that this was for an adoption. There was a letter attached to it saying " We did this for you Nov 2006 for an adoption, what do you need this for, Adoption?, Visa?..." I thought I was going to throw up. As all the stuff they needed were in this envelop, I went back in the Post Office & bought an express post envelop & ensured that we did say what it was for this time & resent it.
I know they say " Everything happens for a reason" Well, we will find out sooner or later what this reason was. For now, we are hoping to reveive it by February 8th. That would be two weeks which is what it took last year. Last time it was 1 month because of Christmas & New Year.
We are going today to clean out the cabin as we finally sold it & got what we wanted for. No need to borrow money for the adoption. Ah! this is a good news.
On that note, have a nice weekend & Hope the next blog is around February 8th.

Almost there....
Hello everyone.
Well, We met with our independant practitioner & the home study is ready. She is waiting for us to give her a copy of our Interpol & the medical forms.
We had the Interpol done Dec 13 & Canada Post tracking system shows it was received Dec 17. I called the RCMP in Ottawa last tuesday & the voicemail said to leave some information & I could expect a call back in 2-3 days. Well, It has now been 5 days & no one has returned my call. Obviously the FEDS don't have the same standards as we do at WCB. They have had our information for more than 1 month & still nothing.
I was also waiting for our blood test results to come back for our doctor to sign the medical forms & the doctor said we would receive it by mail & when we do, to make an appoitment with her so she can sign the forms. Well, the blood test was done on December 30th & we were told 1 week & still nothing. I called the doctor's office & rescheduled the appointments 5 times & yesterday I called to cancel all together & I was going to just wait & see when it comes in to make an appointment & the receptionist looked in my chart & said that the results have been in since January 7. As the results were negative no one called us. I almost lost it on the phone & then I remembered that it is not her fault but her office policy. She then remembered that we were waiting for that for an adoption to proceed & she said our files shows we paid for the medical forms so they just assumed it was done. So needless to say that I did not cancel the appointment for tomorrow & we will be done with the medical portion. All we have left to wait for is the Interpol.
I started the process of Citizenship & before we can ask for her's I need to show that I am a Canadian Citizen & apply for myself as a sponsor. I sent that on Thursday (registered mail of course)& once I receive the okay to proceed then I have to start her Citizenship. We don't need to do Immigration 1st anymore, we can just go straight to Citizenship. One less bureaucratic step to do.
Once we receive the Interpol I will walk over to our IP to give her the copies of it & walk the rest over to our Social Service Adoption worker & then it's out of our hands. We should know 1 - 1 1/2 months later at which point we are in the game.
For now I am getting us ready slowly. I say "I" because Josh has no idea about packing & make sure everything we need is there, all he cares about is his games & 2 of his favourite stuffed animals & Sean is a last minute packer & so he doesn't understand why I am making lists of things to bring & why I worry about it now instead of waiting that we get a call to travel & then run around like chickens with our heads cut off to make sure everything is done & ready in 2 weeks. Well if I would be doing what he is proposing, we either go there with half of our stuff missing or he has to deal with me being so stressed that it would be like what Sean is calling "PMSing". As he doesn't want that & neither do I, he leaves me alone with my slow packing & revising of my lists.
No, it's not OCD, it's planning, organizing & being a mother to ensure everyone has what they need. You think that he would thank me when he is looking or needing something & then he asks me " you wouldn't happend to have.....?" & my answer is " yes, do you need it." No, no thanks here...... Yeh! I love the guy.
Anyway, enough rambling on. I will do another update once everything is done & sent to Social Services.

The New Year is finally here and still nothing
Here we go again. It is now January 12 and we still have not met with our indendent practitioner( IP) for the review of the home study, still have not received the Interpol back even though Canada Post tracking system shows they received our package December 17, and we still have not met with our doctor to complete the medical portion.
We have an appointment with our IP on Monday January 14 in the morning and I hope this will go quickly & there will be no need to change anything else so it can be sent to Social Sercices (S.S.)right away. I had to cancel my appointment again with our doctor on Monday because the blood test results are still not in. I rescheduled for Friday Jan 18 & hopefully it will be in by then. I am also going to call the RCMP in Ottawa on Monday to inquire as to where they are at in the Interpol check. That would be nice to know. Once those three things are done, our dossier will be complete and ready to send to S.S.
I did a check yesterday on the timelines that we can expect a call. It goes like this.
1- Dossier sent to Social Services. (hope end of January)
2-S.S. send dossier to Children's Bridge (2-3 wks)
3- C.B send dossier to Foreign Affairs for notorization (3-4 wks)
4-F.A. send dossier to Kazak consulat in Ontario to translate (3-4 wks)
5-K.C send dossier to Kazakhstan to a staff liason who immediatly..
6- takes to Dept. of Education in Kazakhstan (3-4 wks)
7-D.E. send dossier to Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Astana (3-4 wks)
8- D.E & the M.F.A gives approval & send dossier to Ministry of Education in Karaganda. (our city of adoption)
9- Two weeks later the M.E issue the Letter of Inviation.
10-staff liason & Orphange will pre-select a child based on the criterias we gave them & sends our invitation to C.B
11- C.B contacts us that a child is available & offered to us to adopt.
12- Once we review the offer with the medical, we decide yes or no.
13- if Yes, we have 2 weeks to prepare ourselves to travel & we wait for our Visas to be issued. Once issued, WE GO......
14- If No, we wait again for another child to be offered.
So, with the time lines expected for each offices, from end of January to the time the Letter of Inviation is issued, we are looking at the second week of June (that is taking the 4 weeks per dept which is the maximun). It could be earlier. Then the time to pre-select a child & place the offer and the acceptance and the 2 week time to prepare to travel, it would be early July. If this is correct, it would be perfect . Josh would not have to miss any school. We would be back end of August & Josh would go back to school not missing more than a week or two perhaps.
That would be a perfect world wouldn't it? As we know that the world isn't perfect and life throws curve balls, we are prepared to leave earlier or later. It beats the timelines of China which we were told last week that if we would have stayed in the China program we would have perhaps been able to go in very late 2012 perhaps 2013...... I am so glad we got out of that never ending place...
Anyway, that is all for now. I will keep you posted as it moves along.
Have a nice weekend.
