Dossier sent to Social Services

Hi Everyone!
Finally, our dossier has been sent to social services. Not without it's problems, of course.
First, I faxed our Interpol & medical forms to our IP so she can review them & then send the home study to Social services but, as it was " SPRING BREAK" she was not at work for the week. So, it sat there till the next monday. Then, I was told by social services that I needed to meet with my own Notary Public & have our passports, birth certificates & marriage certificate copies notorized. So, thank God we are in the same building as 2 law firms so I called & met with a lawyer who is also a notary public & she did those in 45 mins. (there was 35 pages). It only cost me $35.00. Then,I got a call from social services telling me that one of our forms " Adoption application" needed to be signed in front of a notary public and this needed to be done right away. Sean of course was out of town for the next 3 days, so, I called our Notary public again & made an appointment for that Friday to go meet her with Sean & sign this there. On Friday, we met, it took about 2 minutes & then I walked the document to social services.

On Monday Feb 25, I called our I.P & was told that the home study was sent to S.S that day.

On tuesday Feb 26, I received a call from S.S telling me that we completed the application to adopt wrong. We completed lines 1 & 2 for the age of the child & we should have completed just one. I told her that this is not what I thought as line 1 is your 1st choise & line 2 is in case there is no girl matching line 1. But she said no, line 1 is for 1 child & line 2 is in case you adopt 2 kids. I told her I did not think so as they were both quite clear that no one can adopt more than 1 child at the time so why would there be 2 lines for 2 kids. I called Children'd Bridge & they confirmed what I was saying. I was told we completed it perfectly & not to change anything. I called S.S back & told her that. She was okay with this..... No just wait, you thought that I was done, well, WRONG.....

On that same day, I got a call from my IP in the morning & a call from S.S within minutes of each other that something needed to be changed. I spoke to S.S & the dates we had on our application to adopt did not match the rest of the dossier/home study & our oficial letter which all said that we are looking for a girl as young as possible to the age of 3 1/2 but our application to adopt had 3 yrs old, so I walked to S.S & changed that & luckily, I did not need to have it re-notorized again. Then, Sean & I walked to our IP & the problem was that we had signed the front of the home study & we needed to sign the back. Easy quick fix, it took about 5 mins & a total of 20 mins with the walk there & back.

Now, I was assured that everything looks good & all there is to be done at S.S is to notorize the dossier & forward it to Children's Bridge who in term has it translated.
So, it should take approximately 1- 1 1/2 month so lets say Mid April until our dossier is received in Kazakhstan.

Thank is all for now & lets hope we don't come across more problems & that the proces goes smoothly from this point on.

IT'S HERE, IT'S HERE !!!!!!!!!!

Well folks, I went to the post office & the last piece of the puzzle has finally arrived...... Sean's Interpol.

We are good to go.........YEH!!!!

Tomorrow I will go to Social Services at my coffee break in the morning (it's across the street from where I work) & drop off everything.

Then at lunch I will go our Independant practitioner (home study) & give her the copies of the medical reports & the Interpol she needs to complete our home study & she can send everything to Social Services that afternoon, one hopes.

So from now on, I will keep you posted as we are getting the information.

Today, after I got the Interpol, I went to the store & bought our little girl some clothes, running shoes that lights up, winter boots & winter jacket as they were all on sale. I got great stuff for a great price. I bought all around age 3 so even if she is younger, she will eventually fit in those clothes. In the mean time, I have lots of girl clothes under the age of 3, in case.

So Valentine's day, I got my Interpol & on Family day Sean got his, So I am thinking this is a good omen..

Just about there

Hi Everyone!

Well, we are just about there. I received MY Interpol on Thursday. Sean did not!!!!! Eventhough they were mailed in the same envelope & they were returned last time in the same envelope. I guess they decided to seperate them at some point in their research. My estimate is that they will arrive tomorrow tuesday Feb 19 & not today, monday because of our provincial holiday " Family Day". I will go to the post office anyway, just in case as they are FEDs & not provincial. One can only hope.

Once the Interpol is in, OFF EVERYTHING GOES TO SOCIAL SERVICES & IT'S WAITING TIME.

We were told by CB that if we get our dossier in by the 1st week of March lets say, we can look at travelling by mid September 2008. Now I don't know what " in meant" either in at CB or in as in Kazakhstan. Social Services will take about 1-2 weeks & CB will take about 3 weeks so we are looking at the dossier arriving in Kazakhstan approx in late March early April so we could be looking at going late September mid October 2008. If this is correct, we should be back home in time for Christmas (a daughter for Christmas).

I will keep you posted on the process as everything should be going quite fast from here on. At least this is what I hope.

Talk to you soon.
