Well, once again, we've been had.....

Today we received an email from our agency telling us that our dossier will not be going to Kazakhstan before Christmas after all. It will be sent in January 2009 as was planned. We are told to count 10 days from December 18 however that does not count the weekends & the Christmas holidays & the Embassy re-opens January 5, 2009.
The expedited fee was a Bonus the Consul decided to give himself before Christmas out of our pockets. Bottom line is, every one must pay him $600. to get their files sent forward to Kazakhstan otherwise it will remain on some shelf gathering dust with other dossiers from other families that either refuses to give him bribe money or have no money to give. So we are back where we were, our dossier not going to Kazakhstan till January 2009 & $600 poorer. All the 9 families stuck at the Embassy since July (like us) have decided to pay so we will move forward I guess when it pleases the Consul.

With that being said, Merry Christmas to all.

Our file is finally moving forward YEH !!!!!

I have been in touch with our Agency off & on trying to get our file moved forward & they have been working on doing this & finally today, I got a call at work. I was not expecting this & it came as a shock to me when she said who she was. We had advised them that we were willing to pay an expedited fee if we can be guaranteed that our file would move forward right away. Anjali told me when she called around 10:30 this morning that they could guarantee that our dossier would be sent to Kazakstan within the next 10 days. She added that once our file is in Kazakhstan to count 4 months then we would get ready to travel to meet our child. I cannot explain the emotions I felt at that time. Well, I will try, I was excited (of the great news), scared (of the reality of the upcoming long trip), rushed (go to the bank for the draft & post office to courier it), overwhelmed (I shared the news with friends & my mother in Law but not the most important ones like Sean & Josh as one is in a meeting all day & the other one is at school). It is a great news for us as our file has been in Ottawa since February 4, 2008 (almost 1 year). Right now I can only imagine what age she would be & what she would look like & if we are looking at the same stars at night wondering if we will ever meet. Isn't it funny, Everyone that knows me knows that I am all about Tinker Bell & her bedroom if full of things with TinkerBell. 2 days ago I bought a TinkerBell tree decoration that I did not want to buy until she was here & I saw it & thought about her & got it anyway. I guess that is a way we can have her with us at Christmas is with this little ferie who can dance in her dreams for us. I will do another update once we have an update & told that our file has been sent to Kazakhstan.

In the meantime, enjoy the snow & the cold. We will be snowmobiling this weekend no matter how cold it will be. Isn't it why they invented hot chocolate & hot tatty (spelling).
